#theyeardproject is proud to announce that later this month 60 enthusiastic kids with Inflammatory bowel diseases will be attending a weekend Camp funded in part through our partners, your supporter pages and purchases of beard care products. Your beard can make a difference.
#theyeardproject is a not-for-profit corporation that operates to make a difference in the lives of those battling with the daily struggles of life with Crohn’s and Colitis.
This past year their goal of helping fund a youth camp for children dealing with chronic illness is less then a month away for being realized. The Ontario Camp Got2Go will take place at the scenic Lake St. George Field Centre located in Richmond Hill, ON from September 30th – October 2nd, 2016.
#theyearproject co-founders and brothers Mike and Marty Speyer have been invited to attend lunch and events with the Campers. Mike Speyer said ” I wasn’t diagnosed with Crohn’s disease until my early 20’s and I can’t image what life would have been like dealing with these issues as a child or teen. Kids are supposed to be kids. Chronic pain, discomfort and dealing with issues that most grown-ups won’t even discuss changes things. For some they feel different and often alone. By bringing these kids together the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation is helping them feel normal and included while helping them with their day to day needs that include medication, nursing and special dietary requirements. We are so proud of the bearded community and our sponsors for helping make this happen. For the next year we are looking for ways to see faster growth so we can have an even larger impact on the growing number of people affected by Crohn’s and colitis”
(#theyeardproject raises awareness for IBD through growing year long beards, Competitive Bearding and hosting events such as Nuckfest and the Ontario Beard Championships. They raise funds through tax deductible donations made to their many supporter’s pages and by selling Supporter Gear and Beard Care products.)
